An RPG where every character is one of my family members.
What about it ?
My role: Game Designer, Level Designer, Narrative Designer, Sound Designer, Programmer
Game created: A full-fledged RPG adventure
Work constraints: Individual Project, made in 6 months.
Softwares used: RPG Maker MV, Photoshop, Audacity, Word
Year: 2019

How did it go ?
- The game managed to be finished without cutting almost any of its planned content.
- The level progression is fairly well balanced.
- The story reached the targeted audience (my family).
- I had a lot of fun making my first big game from start to finish.
- The game had to be delayed 3 months from the first planned release date, crunching over holidays to get the game done.
- Since I didn't use any plugins or Excel to balance the game, a lot of unessary playtest was done.
- Playtest sessions were held late in development.

How was it made ?

In 2019, I decided to try making my first video game on a software other than Scratch. Since it was dedicated to my family, it hasn't been released on the Internet. I gave myself 3 months to make it, however I spent 3 additional months polishing and debugging the game.
Since the game is an RPG, I learned and used RPG Maker MV. I thus programmed with the software's own event system, and generated the character sprites. I wrote the game dialogue on Word, as well as the character/enemy stats, skills and more on a notebook.
I also used Audacity to program the looping music since RPG Maker MV doesn't provide a looping audio function, as well as Photoshop to edit the character sprite sheets.
